Hi, I’m Max!

After graduating from high school, I was faced with the choice of studying, training or a year abroad?

A traditional degree course seemed very one-sided to me – lots of theory, but hardly any practice. With an apprenticeship in business, on the other hand, I asked myself whether it was in-depth enough for me. And a year abroad? That sounded tempting, to improve my language skills and discover new cultures, but the high costs held me back.

Then I heard about the possibility of a dual study program at MEISER – and I was immediately enthusiastic! Gebrüder Meiser GmbH not only pays the full tuition fees, but also offers its students the chance to gain international practical experience at a subsidiary abroad. Sure, you commit to staying with the company for two years after graduation, but for me it was a fair offer for the opportunities that opened up to me. That’s why I wanted to start my dual study program to prepare myself in the best possible way for the challenges of my future career.

The combination of practice and theory takes place via a block phase system at the Akademie der Saarwirtschaft, or ASW for short, in Neunkirchen. In the theory blocks, which typically last several weeks, we students are given an intensive introduction to various specialist areas. This includes not only traditional lectures, but also interactive seminars, group work and case studies. Lecturers, who often come from a practical background themselves, not only impart the necessary knowledge, but also encourage exchange between students. These theoretical phases are designed to create a solid foundation of knowledge that is crucial for the subsequent practical phases.

Each theoretical block is followed by a practical phase, which also lasts several weeks. During this time, I can concentrate fully on the day-to-day business in the company, manage projects and play an active role in shaping them. In this way, the knowledge I have acquired in the theoretical blocks becomes directly alive and tangible.

In my first year, I worked in the controlling and financial accounting department at Meiser Straßenausstattung GmbH. I was directly in charge of one of my first projects there and was given a lot of responsibility right from the start. I also had the opportunity to take part in several business trips to our subsidiary BBV in Brandenburg.

I have been working in the purchasing department since February. Once again, I received a warm welcome and was quickly able to immerse myself in the day-to-day business. Every new task is an exciting challenge that helps me progress.

Now, halfway through my studies, I am more convinced than ever of my decision to do a dual study program at MEISER. I’m also looking forward to spending some time abroad at one of our branches in France soon, which will enrich my experience even more. I can only warmly recommend a dual study program at MEISER to anyone!
